CSBG-IS Data 2008
Each year, Community Action Agencies must submit a full report of their financial status and the outcomes to the Office of Community Services, a division of Health and Human Services. This report is compiled nationally by the National Association for State Community Services Programs. This report includes both qualitative and quantitative information.
This report is compiled at the state level and reviewed for accuracy before submission. Agencies must report yearly income from four areas: direct federal funding, state funding, local funding and private funding.
Beginning in 2006, changes were made to the performance indicators that all agencies collected. These National Performance Indicators (NPI) show the changes in agencies’ abilities to respond to local and regional needs, as well as trends in programming funds.
The link below provides an overview of several of the NPI tracked by CAN and its member agencies. The data within the presentation shows the trends in the data over a period of three years. This simple trendline information is affected by a number of variables: data entry and workflow changes have been made within agencies to accommodate program changes, many agencies have become users of Service Point (a management information system that helps in the reduction of duplicated counts and services), and the economy has shifted significantly.
