Community Action of Nebraska’s mission is to alleviate poverty by enhancing program development, providing technical assistance, and advocating public policy to support all Community Action Agencies in Nebraska.
Community Action is a national network of nonprofits dedicated to helping people achieve economic stability. There are over 1,000 Community Action Agencies across the country. All strive to fulfill the Community Action Promise:
Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
Nebraska's nine Community Action Agencies each have services and programs designed to meet the local needs of the communities they serve. Programs include housing, health, food and nutrition, child development (Head Start), transportation, asset development, employment programs, disaster relief, and Navigator assistance to help Nebraskans understand and enroll in health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace www.healthcare.gov .
